Charybdis&Scylla |
Circe had told me two paths we could take. The first, impossible, no ship can go through. The second meant we had to face Charybdis, and Scylla. Scylla sounds like a puppy but is a monster. She has twelve legs and six long necks, each with heads. She doesn't even need to leave her cave to eat, just half of her comes out of her lair and fishes the wildlife. More of my crew will have to be eaten by her. On the other side of Scylla, is another set of rocks. Under a fig tree on those rocks, is Charybdis. Charybdis, sucks everything down, not even Poseidon could save us from it. Circe suggested that we stay close to Scylla's rock and push hard , so we all do not die. I do not want to lose more men but she explained that I can't always be the hero. Scylla, is a flight not fight situation, we would have to move fast or she would eat another set of us. When I told my men what Circe told me I only told them about Charybdis, not Scylla since there was nothing we could so about her. My men and I all escaped Charybdis, but Scylla devoured them at her door. They will not get burials, and for that I cannot forgive myself.
